Most of Police Sergeant Exam is free, and it will stay that way. Each exam has a free diagnostic, a free full-length mock in the real format, a free quick practice and a free quiz on every topic, all with explanations. Every law guide and the printable question sheets are free too. Pro is for candidates who want more: more full mocks to sit, every question on the topics they keep getting wrong, and every explanation in the end-of-test review.
This page explains what is free, what Pro adds, how billing and access work, and when Pro is not worth paying for. Police Sergeant Exam is an independent revision site. It is not affiliated with the College of Policing, the Home Office or Oxford University Press, and nothing on it is legal advice.

How billing works
Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card number. Your plan renews automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. You can cancel from your account page at any time: you keep Pro until the end of the period you have paid for, and you are not charged again. From the same page you can change your card and download receipts and invoices.
If a renewal fails, Stripe retries the card and you keep Pro for a three-day grace period. After that, Pro switches off until a payment goes through.
Pro starts as soon as you pay. At checkout you ask us to start straight away, so under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 your 14-day right to cancel ends once access begins. Your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 still apply, and our refund policy sets out when we refund a charge.
How access works
Pro is tied to your email address, not to a device. Create a free account with Google or with an email link before you pay, and use the same email to sign in on your phone, a home computer or a laptop. There is no password to remember. When you sign in, Pro follows your account straight away.
Choosing a plan by timeline
Revision for the sergeants' exam usually runs for about four months, so work back from your exam date:
- March sitting, starting in December: the 3-month plan covers your revision from early December to the exam on 16 to 18 March 2027.
- Starting earlier, or planning for October as well: the 6-month plan costs less per month and covers a resit at the next sitting if you need one.
- Already revised, and want mocks in the last few weeks: the monthly plan, cancelled after the exam.
NIE candidates often have a shorter window, set by their force. The monthly or 3-month plan usually fits.
Who should not pay for Pro
- If you score well above the pass mark in every area on the free mock and the diagnostic, you may only need the free tools and your manuals.
- If your force already gives you a full question bank and mocks, you may not need a second one.
- If your exam is in a few days, you won't have time to use most of Pro. Use the free mock and your weakest topic quizzes.
How to decide
Start free: take the diagnostic and sit mock 1. If your results show one or two areas below the pass mark, Pro gives you every question on those topics and the mocks to check your progress. For exam dates and the pass marks, check the College of Policing website and read the sergeants' exam guide, the inspectors' exam guide or the NIE guide.
Frequently asked questions
+Does Pro cover all three exams or just one?
One Pro plan covers the sergeants' exam, the inspectors' exam and the National Investigators' Exam. The sergeants' and inspectors' routes share one question bank scored against different pass marks, and the NIE route uses the topics in the Investigators' Manual.
+Do the plans renew automatically?
Yes. All three plans renew at the end of each period until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from your account page, and you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for.
+How do I sign in after I pay?
Sign in with Google, or enter the email address you used at checkout and open the one-time link we send you. There is no password. A personal email address is often quicker than a force address, because force filters can hold the link.
+What happens if my card is declined at renewal?
Stripe retries the payment and your account page asks you to update your card. You keep access for a grace period of three days. If the payment still fails after that, Pro stops until you subscribe again.
+Are prices in pounds and do they include VAT?
Yes. All prices are in pounds sterling and include any VAT due, so the price you see on this page is the price you pay at checkout.
+Can my force pay for it?
Some forces fund promotion revision. Every payment produces a Stripe receipt and invoice you can download from your account page, which you can submit under your force's own expenses rules.
+Do you offer a pass guarantee?
No. Practice helps you prepare, but your result depends on your revision and on the exam itself. We would rather be honest about that than promise something we cannot control.
+Can I get a refund?
If you were charged twice, charged after cancelling, renewed by accident and have not used Pro since, subscribed for the first time and have not used Pro, or could not use Pro because of a fault we could not fix, email us within 14 days of the charge and we refund it. The full rules are in our refund policy.
